Penerbangan Terpendek di Dunia

Bayangkan Anda naik pesawat, lepas landas, tak sampai 1 menit kemudian sudah mendarat lagi di bandara tujuan. Inilah penerbangan dengan rute terpendek di dunia milik Loganair, maskapai asal Skotlandia.

Mencoba rute penerbangan ini, tampaknya traveler lebih banyak menghabiskan waktu booking tiket daripada perjalanan pesawat itu sendiri. Bukan karena menggunakan pesawat tercepat, tapi jaraknya memang terlalu dekat. Penerbangan yang dimaksud yakni antara Westray dan Papa Westray. Saking pendeknya jarak tempuh, penerbangan antara kedua bandara yang sama-sama terletak di Corkney Islands ini dibaratkan bisa dijalani hanya dengan kedipan mata.

Kedua bandara tersebut berjarak hanya 2,8 km, namun terpisahkan oleh lautan, sehingga butuh pesawat untuk menghubungkan kedua tempat ini Durasi penerbangan biasanya berlangsung kurang dari 2 menit, bahkan bisa lebih cepat yakni 47 detik, tergantung pada arah angin.  Semenjak 2011, semakin banyak orang yang berminat menjalani rute-rute pendek tersebut. Alasannya karena Papa Westray adalah salah satu objek wisata favorit di Inggris. Harga tiketnya? Hanya $30, tapi tentu saja tanpa sajian makanan.
